The total capacity of dams supplying water to the Cape Town metro has decreased by 1,2% between 7 December to 13 December 2020, from 96,8% the previous week to 95,6%. Daily water consumption for the same period increased by 26 million litres per day to 749 million litres per day. At the same time last year, dam levels were at 78,9%.Residents are reminded that while water restrictions were lifted from 1 November 2020, the permanent regulations in the City’s Water By-law still applies, like watering only being allowed before 09:00 or after 18:00, the maximum flow rate of new and replaced showerheads may not exceed seven litres per minute and all swimming pools must be covered by a pool cover to avoid evaporation when not in use.
