Fort Beaufort-born broadcast journalist Xolisa Sindaphi has covered some of the province and the country’s most newsworthy events for KQ FM and Zibonele FM. He has written and directed many interesting radio dramas for Zibonele FM.
Who is Xolisa Sindaphi?
Born on April 08, 1985 at Emhlangeni Village (Hertzog), Fort Beaufort, Xolisa Sindaphi is considered one of Community Radio’s leading news correspondents. He is an Afrikaans, IsiXhosa and English newscaster at Zibonele FM and also works as the executive producer and host of the Current Affairs Program (Ezabahlali). He also writes short stories and produce radio dramas. Xolisa has vast knowledge (experience) and skill of presenting almost every program on Radio. He is also a voice over artist.
Backround and Early Career
He is the son of Weziwe Joyce Sindaphi and Sityebi Richman Grootboom. Xolisa is his mother’s last born of six children (Three sons and three daughters). While growing up he spent time in Emhlangeni; eThwathwa, and completed his primary schooling at Hertzog Primary School. Went to Mtebele JPS in Emachibini, Queenstown; J.M Ndindwa High in Balfour, Fort Beaufort and Z.K Matthews S.S.S in Zinyoka Village in King William’s Town. As a college student, Xolisa studied Media and has a Diploma in Audio/Visual production. In 2006, Xolisa started his radio career as volunteer in news reporting and reading at Radio Nkqubela in Port Elizabeth. In 2012 Xolisa joined Zibonele FM as a volunteer in news presenting and current affairs program co-host and went on to host other programs (Sigiya Ngengoma/Zisina Zidedelena)

Xolisa gave Zibonele FM listeners reports from the Human Settlements thematic conference in partnership with the UN Habitat held in the CSIR Centre in Pretoria in 2016 and again he reported live from another leg of this conference in 2017 (Midrand, Johannesburg) . Xolisa has also covered the State of the Nation Address live in Parliament on numerous occasions. Along with his coverage of key national events he has interviewed many of South Africa’s top leaders including former SA President Jacob Zuma, Western Cape Premier Hellen Zille, Mayor Patricia de Lille, ANC National Chairperson Gwede Mantashe, UDM Leader Bantu Holomisa and SACP 1ST Deputy S.G Solly Mapaila (All live in Zibonele FM Studios)
